This 25-year-old woman could almost serve as a case study for what happens when you neglect to compel a fully grown adult to take responsibility for their own lives. She literally does not have the physical and emotional tools to even wrap her brain around renting a car or organizing her own carpool situation for this wedding. She was far too adjusted to having someone else (usually, a parent) do everything for her, even at her age.
There are a few people to blame for how this whole conflict transpired. Yes, the parents deserve a big chunk of the blame here. It's on them to instill a need for self-sufficiency and independence, and they simply dropped the ball. Instead, making sure their precious little girl had everything at her fingertips backfired and ended up making her incredibly stunted.
Of course, the 25-year-old herself is to blame here for not knowing better and for clearly having no desire to be responsible for herself in the way that her friend was. Finally, while the bride-to-be is certainly not to blame for her childhood friend's shortcomings, she will be at fault if she gives in to her demands. This girl has GOT to learn sometime, and there is no time like the present!
